    Question Cruising From New Orleans

A question for anyone who has cruised out of New Orleans. Do they cruise down the river and out by Boothville/Venice or do they take the outlet canal over by Lake Borgne? Like I would be able to see the difference in the dark (5:30pm departure in November).

They cruise down the river past Venice - about 100 miles of it from New Orleans to the Gulf and then you'll see the lights from the rigs for another 100 miles or so.

You will see lights all down the river and from ships that pass in the night and hopefully don't go run into you.

This was what it was like boarding NCL Sun a couple of years ago:

The casino opens as soon as the ship leaves, so don't worry about that.

I think they have closed the Gulf Outlet but certainly need to fill it in. That is how most of the storm surge from Katrina came in.
