I was there recently for a land vacation and loved New Orleans!! I saw 2 cruise ships there, one was a Carnival but I didn't notice what the other one was. The city does need the tourist dollars and people were happy to see the cruise ships back!

The ships you saw should have been Carnival Fantasy & NCL Sun. Not sure how long NCL will be cruising from there but Fantasy is doing 4 & 5 day cruises & Triumph will be doing 7 day with a new port. Ocho Rios instead of Montego Bay.

I love cruising out of NOLA. I was very sad when the Conquest left. At least I sailed on her before she left NOLA.
