Um - yes...........and no!!! We were highly amused at all the intrigue - just because I am an Admiral!! And to see someone take it that seriously, was hilarious!!

Certainly wasn't a boring cruise and we made some great friends!! There are some fun people on this forthcoming one also - two of us are banned - and we haven't even met!! Both Brits though. Didn't ban the Americans we notice!!

Someone told me about the Expedia thing - I will try and google it if I have time!!

Yes, that was an interesting cruise with the Bangs. We had a great bunch from the roll call and it won't be a cruie easily forgotten.

I feel a bit sorry for him as I think he likes CC - but he didn't like what they did either and he actually told them that he didn't lapprove of them putting info about him on their private website!! Was quite stroppy about it!! I think he likes CruiseCritic, whereas I am a bit fed up with many of them anyway!! I actually had my name removed from their e-mail lists and then they removed me!!! HEHEHE!!!

Of course, if he puts an ISP blocker on his computer, he can get a new name and go back on!!

I won't bother!! Had my fun there - off to pastures new - like this one!!

Well, they have their own website. They put the cruise up on their own website and put the names of all posters on the Roll Call on there and ask for people to e-mail them with their photos.

Now, this is interesting because we already had our own list on the roll call and also our own webshots, where you don't have to give your e-mail address to anyone, just place the photos yourself!! Merlin objected and so did I, to our details going on their private website without our permission!! And who knows what e-mail addresses could be used for - after all, we are all hot prospects for any Travel Agency!! Maybe other worse things as well. I don't give my e-mail address to people I don't know!!

On the website, they are also advertising the e-coach in Cork. They also organise some port excursions. Is this out of the goodness of their hearts? Might be, of course. They ask the CC people who agree to join their excursions to pay THEM before getting on the bus!! A friend of mine thinks they may be Travel Agents. I really don't know WHAT to think. But they are NASTY. Like to control the thread and don't allow banter!! They drove me off one rollcall last year in disgust. On that cruise people were coming up to us and saying they wern't much fun, their M&M was a damp squib and we didn't miss anything!!

Most people on CC are nice, but I have grown out of it now.

We may not have banned notices under our names, but our computers ISP's are banned i.e. we can't get on the Message Boards!! Just looks like we have disappeared. Quite clever I think!!

You can enjoy friendly banter here and even talk about your travel agent by name as well as mention other cruise forums. Our aim is to provide a friendly and safe place for cruisers to meet and talk.

Keeping the subjects on topic is encouraged, but we do drift a bit and that's OK as long it doesn't hijack the whole thread. Roll calls are just that--a place for folks to get to know each other and most anything goes as long as it's not rude, crude or attacking someone.

We even have a Cruise Deals section where our members can post deals they have heard of...including mentioning the travel agent who is offering it! And a seperate place for travel agents to post their deals. Pretty nice, huh?

I don't think it is connected to CruiseCritic - you have to click on to a link they put on the thread. They called me condescending (just trying to calm things down between them and Merlin!), told me I talked nonsense (sometimes true! But so what? They disapprove of the 'occifers'!) and when I said they were just boring, I got banned!!! Have a full compliment of occifers and it should be a fun crowd on this trip.

Not to worry about going off on a tangent! This is informative and if anyone besides you and me reads it they will learn something.

You asked about frubals.....


Frubals

Have you ever heard the phrase 'instant karma'? Frubals (sometimes known as 'reputation') are are a very close equivalent.

Let's say, for example, you see a post that you really like. You can validate that person by clicking on the little scale icon that appears in that post. (It's toward the right-hand side, up top). A pop-up message will come up, asking what you thought of the post and will have a blank space where you can write your thoughts on that post. The other member will have it noted in their "User CP" that someone thought that that post was worth frubals, and if you enclosed a note, that will appear next to the notation.

Click on User CP -- scroll down a bit and you will see how much reputation (how many frubals) you have and who gave them to you, along with their personal message. It will display the last 20 posters who have sent you frubals.

Scroll a tiny bit more and you will see how many you can give (reputation power). The number of frubals you can send each time is based on how much "reputation" you have acquired.

The messege you get in your Private Messages box is the canned one that automatically goes out when someone sends frubals. The "real" message is on the User CP page.

The more you get, the more you can give, but you have to have made 50 posts on the boards yourself before your frubals have any value to someone else.
