My DW and I have sailed on the Melody in 1998 and 1999, each time on a back to back cruise out of Fort Lauderdale, and each B2B had a different itinerary.

Things that I remember about the Melody.........all announcements were made in 7 languages, which ment that even a short announcement took forever.

Twice in Antigua.........we did not leave port until late at night, rather than the ususal 5PM sailing. The first time, we had settled on the bottom of the harbor, and it took 3 tugs a couple of hours to free us, waiting for high tide of course.
The second time, the ship blew a starter motor, so one of the main propulsion units could not be started, but the mechanics aboard had the bad one rebuilt in about 6 hours, and we were off and running again.

The Melody had a clothes optional deck, one deck above the pool deck, but many Europeans thought nothing of changing clothes on the pool deck, or showering in the buff.

Then there was the hooker that worked her way between the officers. That was a funny story to us.

The last that we saw the Melody was in the Mediterranean a few years ago. It was one ship that had no balconies, even in the full suites.

One other thing about the Melody..........she used to be the Big Red Ship.......and everytime that we had a hard docking.........the white paint would peal, and part of the Big Red Boat would reappear.

    Rick
