Thread: Cruise Ship Excursion ROBBED in Montego Bay!

This is not a report that any of us want to hear ... BUT ... we NEED to hear!

An excursion offered by Carnival Conquest was robbed in MoBay. More complete info is here on CLF in the Carnival section:

We like Jamaica BUT we're always extremely careful.

Always wonder WHY folks don't respond when there's a report about something unfortunate happening in a port!

This robbery was on a shore excursion offered by the ship which most of us always think of as a safe as possible thing to do in Jamaica .....

Montego is getting almost as bad as Kingston. A lot of our cruisers say they won't even get off the ship in Jamaica. We got off in Ocho Rios last year. It wasn't my most pleasant memory.
We had nothing planned so just taxied around a bit. The toothless taxi driver bargained for all day at $30. When the day was over we gave him the 30, and then he said,what about me? The 30 is for my boss. C'mon Mon, I have a family to support. We gave him an extra $5, but I do believe I would never get off in Jamaica again either. Some people have no fear, I do.

As far as the excusion goes through the ship, I really can't believe this happened. This is not good!

we get off in Ocho Rios and walk directly to Margaritaville. After we are done there, we crawl directly back to the ship.

That's why when we're in Jamaica, we go to an all-inclusive resort for the day. They charge about $55-$75 per day, depending on where you go, and all your food, alcohol, and water sports are included. When compared to the cost and time for a shore excursion, this makes for a very safe, fun, and inexpensive way to spend a day.
