Wonder when RCCL will allow you to book the Monarch out of Port Canaveral

    On Friday this was announced...
Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. announced today that Royal Caribbean International's Sovereign of the Seas will be reassigned to the company's Pullmantur fleet, and the Los Angeles-based Monarch of the Seas will assume Sovereign of the Seas' sailings out of Port Canaveral. These changes will take place in October and November 2008.

Does anyone know, care to guess or have a clue when RCCL will open up reservations for the change of departure port for the Monarch?

We were booked on the Sovereign for April 2009. I received a phone call from RCCL and had to return the call to a special Hot Line number. I just got off the phone with this department and they did not know if a ship would be moved to PC. I sign on and read this announcement. I know the announcment says the changed will take place in April and November of 2008 but it does not say when rservations will show the new port.

I believe you already can, anyone that was booked on the soverign has been auto transfered to the monarch. Call your TA
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

No it does not work that way. I already called the special Hot Line from RCCL since I booked directly with them. They do not even realize the Monarch is moving to PC. They told me at this time we do not have plans to more a ship there. Go figure! So I have to wait until they open this up online to book.

OK I Called back to that hotline number. I was told that they are so new with this tranfer that no one has been trained. The lady that helped me got her paperwork and read it to me. This is what she told me. The Monarch is going end cruises in Cali October 2008. It then will go into a week long drydock and will be in PC in November 2008. As of right now the Monarch bookings are coded red and you can not transfer your cruise on the SOS to the MOS. She was not sure when it would become available.

Sue you are so funny. Yes it is upsetting but hey what can you do. I know I will work it out, it will just take a while to do so. At least I have the facts. I know the Soevereign is moving and I now know Monarch is going to be available as an option for me. On my first phone call I did not think we had any other options. So with that in mind I know that we can still have a short cruise on RCCL for my baby's Sweet Sixteen.

Oh, gosh, I hope everything works out for you. You would think that those booked on the Sovereign would get transferred to the Monarch, with the abiity to cancel without penalty if you want to make other plans. At the least, you should get first priority on bookings.

Did RC hire up the Princess CSRs or something?
