Arrival time for a Miami departure

Due to the Airline changing my flight time (Ugh!), I have to change flights to arrive at Miami at either 2:17pm or 12:57pm, for a 5pm cruise (Majesty on April 10th). Obviously the 12:57pm time would be better, bet the flight leaves at 6:45am .

Do you think the 2:17pm arrival time into Miami is cutting it too close?

    Thanks for your input!!

    Travis.

    Hi Travis,

Yes, I think it is cutting it too close! Anything can happen to delay your flight. You could be fine if all goes according to schedule, but delays can happen for many reasons.

On our recent cruise, we were over an hour late getting into Orlando due to a computer glitch in our departure airport. I was so stressed out about missing the ship! It's not worth the worry. Get there as early as you can...just my humble opinion.

I think so. What if you're delayed? What if something happens to your luggage?

My flights are always early morning because I use a smaller airport (7:00 a.m.) and we always arrive EARLY -- by 10 a.m. Still, I'd rather be too early, than too late.

Hi Travis!! Welcome to CLF, could you tell us when your cruise is, and where you live??? That would help a lot in answering!!
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

    Thanks kitty and angel,

I figured that would be the answer! I agree. I don't want too much stress on our departure date. Getting up early is a better idea than taking a chance of missing the boat!

    Thanks again!

Sorry found your cruise date!! First I would suggest you come in a day early!! These days anything can disrupt travel!! It is worth the price of an overnight stay for the peace of mind knowing you will make the ship, and are rested for boarding day!! We know good hotels with shuttles. That said, I would take the early flight to be safe. I would rather grab a coffee and wait a bit than be left standing at the pier as the ship sails away!!

    Thanks, Sue.
The flights have been changed to the earlier ones. Hopefully this change in flights is our only "bump" for this upcoming cruise!

    Arrival Time

I too would suggest coming in a day earlier. I don't know if this is possible, but why have so much stress to start out your vacation. Two weeks ago, we flew into Miami a day earlier and stayed overnight. The best thing that happened to us, is that a waiter in our Hotel told us to visit Coconut Grove that evening. It was awesome. If I were to stay in Miami again, I would get a hotel as close to Coconut Grove as I could. Our trip from the hotel, (walk 6 blocks to the Metro, Metro for 20 minutes then a bus ride to Coconut grove), was a little scary, especially for a group that lives in a small town. But Coconut Grove made a big difference in my experience in Miami. We were going to use the free shuttle service to the airport from the Hotel, but there were so many people waiting for the shuttle and only 2 shuttles (going from the Hotel to the Port and then to the airport for people they picked up at the Port and back to the Hotel) the wait would have been way too long. We actually meet some people at the Port from our Hotel that were way in front of the line at the Hotel, and they made it there 1 1/2 hours after us. We took a cab for $15.00. We would have probable still been waiting too. sorry for the long thread, but that's my opinion. GOOD LUCK .

I would have to agree with those that say come in a day early ... we do and are glad that we do as 1 time our flight from start to finish ran late ... 1st we left Milwaukee 45 minutes late, then, due to weather and this being a direct flight (or so we thought ) ... Since there was bad weather in Orlando and the airport had literally been shut down for an hour ... circling would have eaten up the fuel we were diverted to Tampa to refuel ... then back to Orlando ... so instead of landing at 12:30 we landed at 3pm ... luckily we were a day early, but I cannot imagine what we would have done if we were arriving the day of ...

Granted, this is not an every day thing, but we are not willing to risk it ... also, by arriving a day early, we have a chance to relax and get rested for the cruise embarkation ...

Either way you decide, have a great time on your cruise ...
