Anyone have a hotel recommendation with best view of port/ships? Preferably a hotel with a tower near the turning basin.

At hotels.com check under landmarks for cruise port and get all hotels within 1/2mile. You can then go to each site individually and look at a map.

I did some further research and the Intercontinental was recommended. Anyone else agree or have another suggestion?
We stayed at the Miami Hilton Biscayne Bay 1601 Biscayne Blvd, Miami, Florida, United States 33132

We were very pleased with it. Get a harbour view room and you can watch the cruise ships. It is close to Bayside with its shopping and restaurants. Very short shuttle ride to the port and there is a free transit in the area. We enjoyed our 3 nights there in April 2011.

I posted your question to the CruiseLineFans Twitter feed and got some second and third votes for the Intercontinental Miami.
