Is sailing out of Miami cheaper?

It always seems that the prices are cheaper when sailing out of Miami. I am in Texas and checking the Galveston fares then comparing them to Miami fares, there is usually a $100-$300 difference, Miami being cheaper. Anyone know why?

There are many more ships/hubs there. Also they are closer to the destinations. Thus less gas!

What rex said is so true. IMO, they are a bit to busy these days with so much competition, but I guess that is good for the cruisers!

While the base cruise may be cheaper.............make sure you add in the cost of your airfare......with gas prices what they are.........a roundtrip airfare ticket may make a cruise out of Texas less expensive if you live there.

Jim is right about considering the cost of getting there.

These days if varies a lot and there are deffernt deals at different times.
The large number of ships in Miami does keep the prices low.
This last winter RCL had great prices out of Galveston. That may or may not happen again.
Normaly we can fly from Seattle to Miami cheaper that Seattle to Houston. (even if the plane stops if Houston) It does not make sense but it it true. When RCL need to fill the Rhapsody on a couple dates they offered a deal on the air and we took it.

I have also notice that sometimes it is cheaper to fly into Ft Lauderdale and take the longer transfer to cruise out of Miami.

All in all it is worth the extra effort to check out all the possibilities..
