Here is another option. Fly, or drive in a day early, and get a hotel in Miami with free parking for up to 10 days and get a shuttle to the pier!!!

Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

There are two Destiny-Class ships in Miami, Carnival Triumph which sails on Saturdays, and Carnival Victory, which sails on Sundays.

Just returned from a cruise that sailed out of the Port of Miami.

I must be spoiled with the Port Canaveral boarding and disembarkation process, but I thought Miami was an absolute nightmare! Lots of long, long lines, and seemingly a little disorganized...

In Port Canaveral, we are usually back in our living room by 8:15. At Miami, we FINALLY crossed the gangplank around 9:45 am ... and it was OVER AN HOUR LATER that we finally arrived at the part of the line where we were getting ready to pass through customs... We were on the road home around 11:30!

Wasn't crossing the gangplank late the fault of the cruise lline crew? And also, the ship's crew cannot start disembarkation until all those with foriegn passports report to customs. That's one of my pet peeves. They just don't listen to the loud speaker and take their time having breakfast. That was our problem in Miami with our Zenith cruise. Most passengers were ready, but 3 parties with foriegn passports just didn't show when called. GRRRR! I'm not crazy about the Port of Miami, but one morning the ship pulled into port at 4:30 a.m. and it was a beautiful sight to see.

    Priceline

Earlier today I was checking rates at several Miami hotels to see if the rates went down. Priceline is running a "Fall Sale" for a variety of travel options. Priceline had a price reduction of $40.00 from the best rate the hotels gave me over the phone. I have not used Priceline in a few years and wanted to know if anyone has had any problems with them lately. I did not use the name your own price option, I like to know where I'm staying before hand.

Sheila, that's better than we did last year May when we disembarked the Valor. We crossed the gangplank at 10:30 AM, and add your times, you see we got out later than you did.
I'm surprissed to hear this though, because the Carnival Rep told us that a new Terminal Bldg. would be opening this year(2006). Maybe it's later this year then.

County Convening On Port Tunnel Progress

    POSTED: 11:25 am EDT October 12, 2006

MIAMI -- A proposed $1.2 billion tunnel that would provide direct access between the Port of Miami and Interstate 395 might come closer to becoming reality Thursday when the Miami-Dade County Commission meets to discuss the issue.
