How bad will Miami traffic be?

We are sailing on 11/18/07 on the Norwegian Jewel. I thought driving through Miami shouldn't be a problem since it is a Sunday. My DS just told me that the last NASCAR race of the year is being held in Homestead (Miami) that day. Does anyone know how bad the traffic will be because of this? I know in Michigan when we have a NASCAR race you stay away from the area unless you are going to the race of course.

I have no idea but my guess would be that it would be a little more busy but since Homestead is a ways from the Airport it should not be terribly.

Homestead is about 35 miles south of the Port of Miami

Shouldn't be a problem as Homestead is over 30 miles south. If you are staying in a hotel near the port, you will be fine & dandy. Traffic on the Florida Turnpike S to Homestead will be heavy.
