    Miami Airport Hotels?

Has anybody stayed in a hotel at MIA that was (relatively) clean, quiet AND didn't cost almost as much as the cruise??
Hotwire is showing a 4-star at over $200 and priceline has turned me down for even 3 stars up to $101.
We're coming in from Germany 10 days before our TA cruise (leaving March 18 on Millennium), and need to go up to Washington the day after we arrive from Europe. So, it makes more sense for us to stay at MIA (March 7th - 8th) than go into Miami since we won't be renting a car for the few hours at the airport. We're flying into MIA first, instead of Washington, because of the great one-way fares with LTU from Germany to Miami. (Have I gotten everybody confused now?)

    Thanks for your help.

We always use La Quinta and online rates for your dates are showing $120 per night. There are three, LQ North, east and west, all around te airport with free hotel shuttle from the airport and and the return!!
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

    Thanks Sue!

Even with AARP and AAA rates, I'm showing no less than $160 + tax at all of them for the 7th. Did you use another code? I'll probably book a cancelable back-up and then continue trying priceline until closer to trip time.

    Thanks again.

We stayed at the Radisson Airport five years ago and had a tough time getting a room that didn't reek from tobacco. First we got a room on the smoking floor even though I asked for a non-smoking room. Then we were shown to a room on the non-smoking floor but as soon as we opened the room, the cigar smell assaulted us. (my father was a cigar smoker so I know that smell, unfortunately) They offered to spray it but my hubby insisted on another room. They told us to come back in an hour.

We had never had that problem with a non-smoking room before. And never had a problem with a ship cabin smelling.

Sharon, from experience, it's too early for Priceline to accept a bid that low. Keep trying Priceline, but for sure book something that is cancellable just in case.

Did you try the Holiday Inn Port of Miami. They have good deals (full payment, non-refundable) rates.

We stayed in Intercontinental West but it was part of our cruise package.

Thanks to all of you for all your suggestions. For the moment we have it locked in at the Sleep Inn. No great shakes, I'm sure, but Tripadvisor reviews were really better than most of the motel type places near the airport. And for € 56 (about $68) including all taxes and the airport shuttle and breakfast (?!?), it's a pretty good deal. Booked it through one of the german travel catalogs. Since we're back to the airport early the next morning, it's really just a place to relax for a few hours after arriving in from Europe.

    Thanks again!

Sleep Inns are very good hotels, so not a bad choice.

I agree, I just was "relocated" to a Sleep Inn, in Seattle (actually Sea-Tac) for a conference I attended, and was pleasantly surprised. It was not a large hotel, but was clean, bright, the beds were great, the service impeccable, the breakfast good, and the front desk and shuttle drivers more than helpful, they took me anywhere I needed to go. They even had a good gourmet coffee in my room for my coffeemaker. They had free wireless, and also a nice business area if you didnt bring your own computer. They also let me check out 3 hours late so I didn't have to sit in the airport. I couldn't be happier with them. I didn't know there was one near the airport in Miami.
We are getting a 2 bedroom suite at Homewood suites Airport Miami Blue Lagoon for 169$ for the 4 of us, aarp rate, this October. They have a shuttle and a free full breakfast, as well as a lovely pool area. Oops, just checked, it is up 20.00 since I booked, not sure why.
