miami port - what to do in a day

Hey all. I was wondering if anyone could tell me a little about Miami as a cruise stop. Is the port within walking distance to beaches....or anything worthwhile doing while there? Are there cabs there....a bus service? What do you recommend to do if only for a few hours?

    Thanks!
It is what it is..whattaya gonna do?

Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

There is a local bus that goes to the cruise terminals.
I found it on a website. I will see if I can find it again.
Bayside Market is very close. I have not done too much checking of what is in the area but I do know that you should do some checking before wandering off in Miami. Not all area are good to be wandering in.

I found this link to a site that has a trip planner for their transit system and some of the attractions.

As Sue stated, there are lots of cabs at the port. Miami-Dade Transit route #243, Seaport Connection, bus service goes into the cruise terminal. You can't walk to Bayside Marketplace and Miami's South Beach from the port, must take transportation.

Here's the link for that bus route schedule: http://www.miamidade.gov/transit/rou....asp?route=243

Full fare by bus is $1.50, Seniors $0.75
