Pirate Ship Historical Sail and Whale Watching

We are doing the Mexican Riviera on the Oosterdam Feb 4th and thinking of taking this excursion.

Pirate Ship Historical Sail and Whale Watching

    DURATION: Approximately 2 1/2 hours
    PRICE: $69 Adult $39 Child

Set off in search of whales. Sailing without the noise of the motors and with the aid of hydrophones, you can listen to the singing of humpback whales as you sail among them in their natural environment. An open bar, bottled water, juices, soda and beer on tap are complimentary along with a bowl of fresh fruit.

    NOTES:
Bring you camera and plenty of film.

Has anyone taken this or something similair out of Cabo? What is the Piarate ship like?

    Lisa -

I haven't done this, but I have a question for you...

I thought that whales, especially humpback whales aren't seen of the Pacific Coast of Mexico until March and April.

Is there some sort of guarantee that you'll see whales, sort of like the whale watching excursions in Alaska?

Whale season is actually late November thru April. Las year when we were on the Ryndam we went on a Coastal Cruise out of Cabo and it was suppose to be just that going out by the Arch but it turned into a great Whale Watch. The day we were there was the first Whale sightings. They were not the Humpbacks but they were a large whale.

As you can tell I am not the best phtographer but I was able to capture them. My one camera that has a great zoom tends to have a bit of a shutter lag so I tend to miss great flukes.:thumbsdow

I love Whales Watching, this next year will be 4 cruises of seeing whales, Feb. then going to Alaska May 7th, then returning to Vancouver to do a coastal Repositioning Cruise then our 10 day over Thanksgiving next year.

Nice pictures Lisa! Thanks for the info about whale season. I wasn't aware of that. Hopefully someone else who has done this excursion will be able to help you with some info.

I hope you get to see some whales!

May might be a bit early for whales in Alaska, but that doesnt mean they won't be there, they just might be harder to spot!

Here is a Mother Seal giving birth on an iceberg. We watched this whole thing and she kept going in and out of the water and clean herself off as the gulls watched over her and the pup.
