The day was not a total loss in Acapulco. If plan A does not work go to plan B. (Get a air conditioned cab and take a tour)
Sorry but I don't remember the name of the area where the LEACH attached himself to us, but it was to the left of the ship. The area was walkable for some but not for us in 98 degree heat. There was a park, in a shopping area and the church.
After we got away from the LEACH we grabbed a cab and went back to the ship. We couldn 't seem to find any cabs with air conditioning only those VW's. When we got back to the ship which was only minutes away, we got another cab with AIR and the guy gave us a great tour.
Sea Otter, agree with you about Acapulco. We got off the ship, bought some liquor, bought my husband a shirt tie and socks at Woolworth's (he forgot them for formal night!!!), and got back on the ship!! There we stayed...

Agree walking around in Acapulco is not the thing to do. It almost sounds like you may have been in the same area we originally went to. I remember a Woolworth's.
It is a shame you got back on the ship. Next time get a cab to take you for a tour. We did a similar excursion that the ship offered but were not herded around like cattle and were charged much less.
The only negative was the driver's last stop which was at some giant flea market. (I can't remember what they call it). Everyone in Acapulco has a relative that has a stand there. This guy took us to see his "cousin". We looked at the stuff and left. It was not a problem with the driver, he did not pressure ou into buying anything but his "cousin" was trying his best.
He also took us to some jewelry store. It was upscale and very nice. We didn't ask to go there but the driver got a kickback for the stop. We didn't mind since the store had free margaritas that werent' too bad. There was no pressure to buy anything in this store.

Talk to Roberto, I don't think you should be wondering around there.
After we went to Woolworth's we really enjoyed ourselves on the ship, there wasn't anybody there!! Funny thing, tho, when we left Acapulco, there were LOTS of people lined up on the dock to say goodbye....they shouted and waved, kind of like the Love Boat....
I just found this board by coincidence. I was doing a search for my nickname and it came up. It seems to be great! I really like the way it looks. Anyways, I will start a thread about Mazatlan in these following days. So I can answer many questions for you! In the meanwhile if you have any please ask!

Just wondering... are the time share groups still hanging around the cruise dock?
