Jim, I've never done it but wished I had from all the great reports I've heard. Randi, I understand is from just north of where I live, actually from the town DH works in. BTW If you want to do any shopping, Mazatlan is the best place on your itinerary to do it. They have the best selection and the best prices and you can beat them down pretty good. If you go to the Golden Zone (either on a ships tour or taxi) all the shops are in the same area. Most of the ships tours will take you there.

You'll like it there, especially the Golden Zone. It's one of the oldest towns in Mexico. If you get downtown or on the outskirts of town you'll see all the poverty. It's a very poor area. If you don't want to be around that, stay in the zone or go on an excursion. We used to go there on landbased vacations and have just been cruising there as of late.

The Golden Zone is a cab ride away. About $12 one way.
It is where many of the time shares are located.

Jim, stick with the Eco taxi's, or a pulmonia (sp) that's a little open air taxi, sort of reminds me of those VW Things. There will be taxi's at the port but you can come back in whatever. Make you you agree on the price before you get in
