    Cozumel

Okay so we leave for our cruise in 19 days and I just realized it had crept up very quick. We are looking for suggestions. It will be my husband, myself and our kids ages 14 to 16 months. We really only want the kids to barter for trinkets in a marketplace setting to let them experience that side of the culture. Can we just walk off the pier to a marketplace or will we need to book some type of excursion?
    Thanks.

Oh boy. There is a large marketplace right outside the area where the ships dock. They will get plenty of experience there.

Be warned, the sellers are very aggressive so keep an eye on the kids to make sure they don't get taken. You might want to give them pointers and help them out.

Love Cozumel. We were looking for a particular color of blanket in the downtown area. The sellers tried showing us everything even remotely like what we were searching for. If one vendor did not have them, he would call up and down the street asking all the other shop owners. What a zoo!

Sounds exactly like the experience we want the older kids to have! My Dh said that when he was travelling before kids it was amazing to see how much bartering was a part of so many cultures but ours seems to almost frown upon it.

One thing we did not do was barter in Roatan, Honduras. We felt that the country is so poor that we were not going to nickle and dime the people out of anything. If they had a price on something that we wanted, we paid it.
