Question Which ports in Mexico are NOW still safe for cruisers?

Are there ports-of-call in Mexico that are still safe for cruisers?

Well, LuLu...it's been a week since you posed this question!

I would venture to say that no one is very enthusiastic about the Mexican ports of call at this point in time.
Too much violence and bad press to generate any interest at all for me.

From the chatter on our roll call, most of our cruisers think Cabo San Lucas is still a safe port but most of our cruisers say they will either take a ship's sponsored tour or not get off of the ship in Acapulco. We don't plan to get off of the ship there.

When we were in Acapulco for our turn-around day last year, an Officer my DH met having coffee most mornings, strongly suggested we stay on the ship. They felt it was safe enough to get folks to the airport or directly to a hotel but not to be wandering around.
All ship's tours had been cancelled. Since we'd been there before, we just stayed on the ship.

Right or Wrong ... still think we've feel safe having a port stop in Cozumel.

    Cabo is still safe...
My SIL and BIL just returned after two weeks in Mazatlan and had absolutely no issues. They did venture out from their resort but the taxi drivers cautioned then on where to go
As I'm sure you're aware Princess has removed Mazatlan from their Mexico Itinerary's for the balance of their spring cruises. But that's OK with us as we had no plans to get off the ship in Mazatlan or PV.

Acapulco is going to be skipped by many cruise lines, unsafe, last year 12 taxi drivers have been murdered. Princess will stop going there. Maybe they'll do Hautolco, real nice place but may be too far south.

We stopped in Cozumel and Costa Maya last month on the Oasis. Felt very safe. We even ended up walking back to the ship from downtown Cozumel!

That's one of our ports for our Panama Canal cruise. Thanks!
