We called Avis for a rental car in Cozumel.. now we are thinking twice. Its just that we want to see and explore the island without having to pay outrageous prices for taxis..the car was only $27!

The taxi's really don't cost alot. Do a search for Cozumel and check out some of the tours that do that. I'll look for you also

If you have to drive in Mexico get the mexican car insurance..........but I wouldn't do it personally.

We are thinking seriously about cancelling the rental car.. we just aren't sure what we will do in Cozumel then cause we wanted to see the city, go to the beach and go see one of the lighthouses. Any ideas on how to get this done in a short amt. of time (7:00-5:30) and on a shoestring budget?

Just say no to driving in Mexico

It kind of depends on where you are going to be in Mexico. People from Tucson drive to Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point) all the time. You need the Mexican insurance, and there is a checkpoint going in and coming back out. I don't think I would drive in a big tourist spot, tho...

NO...I'll explain why!! Rental car agencies work with theieves and the police in mexico, You drive, you park, they take everything, police look the other way, People have been robbed while away from the car, Money everything you have on you!! Now you are away from the crowds. You will have lots of time to see the sites of Mexico, do what your money allows, but do it safely!! Always stay in crowds, or take tours and excursions!! Many people go off on ther own, I wouldn't!! All it takes is one nut. MHO

My Signature Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

I won't drive in Mexico. I'd probably end up in some jail because I missed seeing a sign or something.
