Question Cozumel/Costa Maya beach recommendation anyone?

    Hello,

FINALLY, an opportunity for a second cruise. The wife and I, along with my sister-in-law and her husband are setting sail on our second cruise in March. Ironically, it's on the same ship as our first, Carnival Fantasy. This time we're heading to Costa Maya and Cozumel. Can anyone recommend a nice sandy beach near either of those towns? Have any of you gone to the Tequila Beach Club? If so, how is it?

    Thanks,
    Elias

Chac-Chi is the closest beach, but is an adventure to get to since the port authority decided to build a big wall to keep you from going there.

Tequila Beach is the first beach area in Mahahual that you come to.

It's a $3pp bus ride to town and $2pp tax back.

Chac-Chi is the rustic area off to the right of the pier and may or may not be open and a hole in a fence may or may not be there.

You can find some pictures from Tequila Beach in here:

The main drag of Mahahual (the tow) isn't long and you can easily walk up and down until you find something you like.

Besides Tequila Beach, Cat's Meow is popular and Pez Quadro (at the end of the strip) is also.

And some of the stuff I've done in Costa Maya:

There are lots of Beach Clubs in Cozumel. Was there something in particular you were looking for?

New Orleans is my favorite port!

I went on the NCL Sun out of New Orleans last November. A different ship, but perhaps there will be some general info in here of interest to you:

There is a thread on the Erato Street Terminal:

Well that should keep you busy for a while!

I just looked through a photo Album showing that Pez Quadro Beach Club in Costa Maya is up and running. I did the beach break there several years ago and had an awesome time. Good food, drinks and clean restrooms.

Pez Quadro is up and running. The bar itself had to move to the other side of the malecon and isn't on the beach, but is part of the 40 canons hotel.

FYI, there is another bar on the malecon with bar swing seats. Don't be fooled by the imitator.
