    Re:Mazatlan Frank & Randi's Horses

    Hi,

I posted this question elsewhere but you didn't see it. we will be in Mazatlan on our cruise in Oct. I am about to book Mazatlan Frank for the day but my sister may want to ride horses. I am leaning towards a full day with Frank. Can you tell me about your day with him? We would like some beach time. Did you have lunch at Tony's and was there time to swim. He has recommended beginning with the old Mazatlan and some countryside, lunch, then ending with the new part of the city. Would you recommend a day like the one you had? You input is appreciated.

Sorry I missed your other post............well where do i begin..........

When we booked Frank he was offering a full day City Tour or a Full Day Colonial tour........we took the city tour which I think is the one you are referring to......or the one he is suggesting.........

We did a little different twist...........we tailored our own tour.........we did not do lunch in the city but instead went with Frank from 8am to around 2ish and then went back to the ship.

We did the old city (that is great, spend a lot of time there)......he took us to a leather shop, jewelry shop........all with 30% off just for Frank's customers. He took us to the Cliff Divers.......yes Mazatlan has them.......went to the old church in the center of town..........(great photo op).......went to Senor Frogs across from the church for t shirts and Mazatlan souveniers......went to the Golden Zone which is the newer developed area of Mazatlan.......all in all had a great enjoyable time.......went to an overlook above the city for another great photo opportunity.

Frank is great, knowledgable and loves Mazatlan..........don't be afraid to do anything he suggests..........I trust him immensly.........we are going back in 07 and plan to take the Colonial tour next time.

From an excursion standpoint.....this was the highlight of our cruise.

Let me know if you need me to be more specific...........I also have some pictures of Mazatlan from last October that includes a picture of Frank.......they should be in the cruise gallery........

    Thanks Jim!

I appreciate your reply. We will probably try to tailor the tour to our interests. Sounds like Frank is flexible. He sounds like a great guy and we look forward to our day with him.

    Sounds great -

Sounds like the kind of "guide" we found on our last trip to Cozumel...you come away feeling like you really know the location. This goes in my future tours folder - thanks.

Horses! That sounds good to me!! Let me know if you do this and how it went...I'd love to do the same when we go to Mexico.

In the ads you see people galloping on the beach but I wonder if in reality they make you ride single file...it would be interesting to hear about it if you go...

    Kathi,

A week or two after Jim hooked up with Frank, we did a tour with him. It was this his countryside tour. Copola, I believe.

It was well worth what we paid ($60/pp). Basically an all day tour with Frank as the guide. We stopped at a brickyard, tilemaker, baker, woodshop, a couple of towns. Lunch was included. As you have learned by now, Frank is very knowledgeable and really loves his country and Mazatlan.
