I would suggest e-mailing Rosie at dew_days@hotmail.com - I used her last month for a tour of Acapulco - very friendly and knowledgeable.

I know you do NOT want to book a tour, but I am sure she will give you some suggestions about a good safe beach.

Thanks so much Debbie and Tom for both of your great suggestions for contacts. Appreciate your time to do this.

Hanna .... I'll be looking forword to your reply when you return.... You know the sort of thing we like to do in ports ... mostly being totally useless.

    Acapulco beaches

Get outside the ship terminal and make a right on the main avenue, costera Miguel aleman, and walk 5 to 10 minutes to be at the beginning of the beaches line of Acapulco. now if you would like a calm and quiet beach go to the opposite side, to downtown, pass the marina and there you go, tlacopanocha beach will be there, 10 minutes from the pier.
the umbrella and 2 chairs rental cost is 3 dollars for the whole day.

Now if you would like to go a little fa, Caleta beach is a great option, but it is 15 minutes far from the pier, need a taxi.

La Roqueta island has a beautiful beach, need to take a boat to get there.

Thanks so very much for the great info! Very Very Very Helpful!

For sure we plan on taking a taxi! We are much more concerned about convenience than we are the cost.

Do we just ask for the beach by name or do we need to say the name of a hotel or bar on the beach?

    Acapulco beaches

We would like to go to a beach as close as possible to the cruise terminal (Acapulco Bay area, I guess it is) with a beach bar. We don't mind crowded, touristy beaches/bars. In fact ... we sort of like them.

Guess, we'd need a taxi? No desire to walk and cross streets in Acapulco traffic.

Please HELP! Where do we go and how do we get there?

The closest beach from the pier is 10 minutes away, U can go either to the left or to the right. if to the left of the pier you will go to Tlacopanocha beach, a small cove beach, nest to the marina, waters and waves very calm.
if to the right you will go to tamarindos, hornitos, along the bay there are plenty of restaurants were U can have a drink or eat something. No need to cross streets, they are on the same side of the street as the pier.
