Mexican Riveriera in May

I'd like to go on Mexican cruise, my first. I thought that going when it is coldest here in Montana would make me appreciate it more. However, February would mean my child would miss school time. One possibility is going right after school ends, May 22, 2009.

Besides foregoing my stark contrast in weather, are there an disadvantages or problems going so late in the season?

What is considered the optimum time for this cruise?

If we do go in May are our options for shore trips likely to be any different than February?

Thanks for the help.

The west coast of Mexico is a year round destination. There are few less ships because some of them go to Alaska during the summer. In 2009 RCI will have the Mariner of the Seas doing 7 night cruises all summer.

The shore excurisions should be the same year round.

Probably the only difference would be slightly warmer temperatures and less likelihood of rain in May than in February. We've gone in January and February and it gets warm by the time you get to Maztalan. Of course, until then it'll be much more cooler in February, esp. in Los Angeles, where it could even be raining.
