Lu, Oct thru April is pretty good. If you go in the summer months, the heat will kill you.

How cool is it off the California coast in Jan-Feb? We don't have any cruises booked after our Hawaii in Sept-Oct, so we are looking for something in the early months of next year. Haven't done this itinerary!
Char, I would rather stay home than go to the Mexican Riviera. Not my thing. JMHO. The weather is no way near as nice as the Caribbean ..neither is the water. Again, JMHO.

That has been my feeling, too! We have gone through the Panama Canal and hit some of the ports and I'm not thrilled with them. I'm also not thrilled with the Caribbean any more since we have done that so many times!.......but it's so easy to get to the ports.
Actually, the ship is our destination now, and the more sea days the better.

We've thught about it, but with Bob's bad heart we can't really do the ports. For the money spent on a SA cruise (unless we find a really good deal) we could do a couple of transatlantics!
Our last 2 transatlantics we got the "hot deals" and paid $750 PP for a balcony!

Actually, we find ourselves in a similar situation. We have taken so many cruises over the past few years, that we are "cruised out"!!
This winter we are planning to go to Palm Springs. Have you ever been there? Some friends tell us we will be bored, but we are willing to take our chances!!!! We will find SOMETHING to keep us busy, I am sure. AND, we also need down time just to relax.
Like you, we don't care for many of the Mexican Riviera ports. We liked Zihuatanejo the best. We enjoyed our stops in Cabo and also in Puerto Vallarta. We like the Caribbean, but don't especially like to shlep to a beach with our towels, etc. My husband calls us "boat people"!! We are tired of the "routine" on the seadays. We really are ready for a change. (We do have one cruise booked for the fjords, next July. That should be different and interesting)
Maybe I'm tired, but I don't get the joke of it being so easy to get to the ports. Please explain!!!!
Char and Lulu, I'm sure others here have a way different opinion on the MR than me. Lets hope some of them see this thread and then we can "war".

Whatever you decide to do, enjoy!
I think what Char was saying is that they live in Florida and they can easily drive to a port instead of flying like I have to do.
Re Palm Springs, yes, its quite nice there in the winter. If you play golf you will love it. They also have some gorgeous shopping areas. Ritzy, but gorgeous. Take money!
