    Mexican Riviera

We will be in the west coast next spring. Thinking of a Mexican Riviera cruise. Which ports are most desirable? Paul

The standard ports for a 7 day cruise are PV Mazatlan and Cabo. Some of the longer cruises go some other ports.

When planning for spring you will find that by mid to late April, many of the ships head north for the Alaskan season and there are not a lot of them left in Mexico.

Carnival and RC both have ships doing the Mexc. Riv. and Baja runs all year round. Some other cruiselines do either the same or a variation (as Blizzard says some do the PV/Mazatlan/Cabo route, some do other ports).

Another thing to consider is from which port you want to start your cruise: most go from LA or Long Beach or San Diego.

Many are 7 day, but there are some that are 3 or 4 (usually the Baja ones) and 5 to 11 days.

HAL has 7 and 10 day Mexican cruises - not many for 10. The osterdam does the 7 day cruises.

Nov 2005, we did 10 days Sea of Cortez and 10 days Mexican Riviera on the Ryndam. This year the Zaandam will be doing a couple of the 10 day cruises.

Living in Las Vegas a West Coast Cruise is what we do most often. Most of the cruise lines offer a 7 day cruise which consists of going to Cabo San Lucas (otherwise know as Cabo), Mazatlan, and Puerto Vallarta. Actually all three ports are very nice. I believe that Mexico's west coast really appreciates the cruise ship business and makes sure these ports are clean and relatively safe. Each port is uniquely different.

We will be going there again to celebrate our 30th wedding Anniversary on the MS Oosterdam March 17th you should join us. The Oosterdam is a great ship

The Zaandam will not be doing any Mexican Riviera cruises round trip out of San Diego as was previously published in early editions of HAL's 2007 Cruise Planners.

Instead the Ryndam will do a combination of the Sea of Cortez and Mexican Riviera cruises - 10 days - round trip out of San Diego:
    Feb 21
    Mar 3, 13, 23
    Apr 2, 12, 22

    San Diego

    Mazatlan 8 AM - 5 PM
    Topolobampo 5:30 Am - 11 PM
    Loreto 8 AM - 6 PM
Pichilinque (La Paz) 8 AM - 6 PM
Cabo San Lucas 7 AM - 4 PM

Carnival has three ships doing westcoast itineraries. The paradise does 3-4 nights, the Pride has a 7 night to PV, Mazatlan and Cabo. The Spirit has a very affordable 8 night to Acapulco, Xtapa and Manzanillo.

    thanks for input

I did not realize that early spring has a limited number of ships. But we should be able to find one when we decide on a date. A 7 day or longer is what we are looking at. Acupolco is a destination we would like. cruise4me
