Mazatlan Frank or ACA Portdude??? Attire Question

From what I can remember from my guide book (Which I can't find) and any kind of television show on Mexico that I've seen, Mexican women wear dresses a lot more than American women.

We are going to the Mexican Rivera for our next cruise, and this time we may do more than stay on ship or visit the beach.

If we do some touring including visiting some Churches and Cathedrals, do we need to be in Pants for the men and Dresses for the ladies.??? Are shorts permitted but not consiserdered good manners? Are capris(3/4 length ladies pants) OK in a Mexican Church?

Out of respect I don't want to just "get by' I want to be dressed appropriately particularly in places of worship. If I have on a sundress do I need to bring a shawl to cover my sholders?

You need to go formal (Men in slacks and ladies in any nice looking attire), only if you stay for the sermon.

If you are just passing by and want take pictures, then capries shorts are fine and sundress is not a problem.

The priests understand the importance of tourists in our ports and they may have an issue if you walk in a a bathing suit. And yes, there are people that have walked into churches, with a sermon in progress, in daisy dukes and bikini tops or sometimes shirtless.

Funny when he alter boys quietly requess them to leave.

    If I could understand it....

Well my Spanish is very poor, but if I could understand the sermon I'd probably pay my respects and stay for it.

I certainly would nto walk into a church during a service in less than appropriate church clothing. We are regular church going Catholics here in AZ, so that is why I want to make sure I am dressed.

I sound like if you are attending a formal service then ..... Shorts are fine, but if you are attending a service with Mass, even if just passing through, it is more approprieate to dress up a little.

We visitied a lot of beautiful churches in Europe, but I always visited in Novmember or March, and usually had on a suit or a coat becauase of the weather.

I just dont' want to offend anyone.

PS. Say Hi to Rosie for me !!!
