    Mexican Riviera

What is your favorite port on a Mexican Riviera itinerary? Why?

    Isujim,

Which Mex Riveria ports are you interested in ?

    Usnretdocb,

Zituatanejo was my favorit port. It was not a big city, but a small village. Nice shops, nice people, nice beach. It was more like the old Mexico.

When we were there in May we took a taxi to the golden zone. This is where a lot of the shops are. The taxi was around 10.00 each way. The shopping area in right by the beach. There are a lot of vendors on the beach but just say no thank you and they leave you alone.

I think Ixtapa is my favorite port but as of yet I haven't been there. Last Oct we went on an 8 day cruise that incluse Acapulco, Ixtapa and Manzanilla and we lost the Ixtapa stop. That really bummed me out because it was the one place I really wanted to go. But I was still glad to be on a cruise

    Cabo

The heat was unbearable. We took a cab to the glass factory. We did this first and beat the ship's tour and had the place to ourselves. It was interesting and the guys were blowing glass. We bought a couple of things and headed back into town.

We went into Cabo Wabo. I did not like the place at all. We sat in the courtyard and there were a million flies. It resembled a horror movie. It was terrible. Inside had very little seating. One or two drinks and we left. I couldn't wait to get out of there. I think the place is a tourist trap and a big rip off. The margarita was not the best I ever had, but just so, so. I do know many people recommend stopping and they say the margaritas are great there but I strongly disagree.

We walked a couple of blocks, almost died of the heat and saw a hotel. We walked through the lobby and there was a great bar out back. NO FLIES and lots of fans. It was on the water and you could see the ship docked. There were many little boats taking people out to Lover's Beach at Lands End. The margaritas were fantastic in the place and much much cheaper than Cobo Wabo's.

Many take a boat out to the beach at Lands End. From what I read, getting out of the boat is not easy for some. The boat does not dock. You have to jump out into the water.

We did a dolphin excursion with a marine biologist organization. (we were there in early Oct, so no whales) We saw a couple but it was difficult to find them. The tour lasted longer than usual since the critters were hiding. (Later I found out the pods were hanging around the docked ship) On this excursion you might get to swim with the dolphins. We were back amd forth all over the bay. Even though I did not get to swim with them and we did not see many, we enjoyed the excursion and so did the other 3 that were on the boat with us.

We then went to The Blue Shrimp. The food was out of this world. We were so stuffed we couldn't eat dinner when we got back to the ship. We went into the dining room a late and just ordered dessert.

There are excellent reports on Randi's horses if you are into that.

The pulmonias are great. They will be at the pier along with cabs and all those time share people.

Lots of people go to a resort for the day. El Cid was recommended but there are more than one. We went to the Marina El Cid and they would not let us in. Lots of people have gone to another El Cid and had no problem.

Our driver was so nice. He took us to the cathedral which was beautiful and should not be missed, a seashell store I wanted to visit and a couple of other stores. Since we couldn't get in El Cid we decided to get a drink in Senor Frogs. Very nice place with great air conditioning. We met a couple of people from the ship ih there and had a nice time

Hi Sea Otter, It's funny you don't like Cabo Wabo. Everyone just raves about it and when my DH and I went in, we just turned around and left. We didn't care for it either. I guess different strokes for different folks, huh? Did you shop in Mazatlan? That is the best for shopping and I really like the SR Frogs there also.
