Mercury Cabins

We are very please that we booked an FOV over a year ago and this week it will be upgraded to a 2a, Balcony Cabin. That means we'll have the same great 224 sq ft room that we had on the Mexico Cruise in November, but this time it will have a balcony. It should be great for early morning and late nigh, and afternoon.... what the heck. all day long viewing of the beautiful Alaskan Scenery.

Only 2 months away now.

Congratulations! A visit from the upgrade fairy is always a nice surprise. Adding a balcony to a room sure helps a room feel bigger too.

Should I ewven post about Cruise Air

Well Cruise Air was a night mare for this cruise.

I some how ended up family travel coordinator for the family.

DH, Me, and the Kids Elected not to do Cruise Air....We could have gotten $200 flights to Seattle from Phoenix. When the cruise moved to Vancouver, the good prices went out the window and we ended up paying $1200 for the 4 of us...2 on free tickets on miles, and 2 purchased tickets, for all of us to get to this cruise.

MIL and DH's Aunt. My MiL and her sister decided to do cruise air. They wee not charged an upcharge for the move from Seattle to Vancovuer. We booked them on flights out of their own cities, meeting up for their connection, and then flying into Vancouver together. However, the saga is not over... more on this later.

The same day when we got ready to book flights for SIL and her husband, Celebrity had no more space available on those flights, and on the return trip wanted to put SIL and her husband on a 7 PM flight out of Vancover and a redeye connection coming home. We thought all of this was silly, but we had a way out. Since they first booked their cabin Celebrity had dropped the price on their cabin a lot, but increased the cruise air price. Our TA had rebooked them at this lower price because the overall price was $50 lower. This meant if they could flnd flights for less than $600 they would now save money.

I used Orbitz to book their flights. We put them on the same flight as MIL going, and a flight at a similar time coming home.

Everything was Peachy.... Until United and Continental cancelled several of the flights.

When they did this they rebooked SIL on a 10:30 AM flight out of Vancouver...Probably too early... and MIL was not meeting up with her sister for the second leg of the flight. My SIL called Orbitz and explained that the 10:30 am flight was too early... she was on the phone with Orbitz for over an hour. They agent was trying to get approval to change the flights when finally he just made the decision to make the change....Celebrity had already changed MIL flights so SIL was able to get on the same flights as MIL.

So now flying out the three of them (Plus my BIL) are on three different flights coming into Vancouver at three different time, and my MIL's sister is having to travel both legs by herself.

I really don't blame the cruise lines, and I guess Airlines cancel and reschedule flights all the time, but it sure would been easier if we could have stuck with our original plans.
