How far is it from the SF airport to the pier? (distance & time please)

I'd say about 10 miles for either SFO or OAK. It would probably just the same from either, so if the fare would be cheaper at one, go with that.

Are there hotels close by the pier? (which ones)

I'm working on group rates at the Tuscan Inn, less than a mile from the pier and even closer to Fisherman's Wharf.

What is European Butler Service? (it is listed for the Sky Suites)

Your butler is available for any special needs that you may have. Help packing and unpacking, making reservations and arranging any parties or pretty much anything you want. You also have 2 stateroom attendants in every cabin and will get service like you have never experienced before.

What is the children's program like on Celebrity? We will be traveling with my sister and family and they have a 5 year old.

I have booked several clients on Celebrity with families. The Celebrity XClub is available on all cruises and is very similar to RCCL's program. A late night slumber party is from 10PM to 1AM (fee) to allow the adults in the group to enjoy some late night diversions. There are also dinner parties and afternoon parties available on selected days.

    What is the thalassotherapy pool?

I've never used the T-Pool, but understand it is a top end hot tub facility that is
open from 7AM till 10 PM.

Does anyone have a photo of a Sky Suite?

    Check here for some photos:

    http://www.our-cruises.com/galaxy.htm

We are currently booked on RCCL for a 15 night cruise for Sep 2008 (Vancouver, Alaska, San Diego). Weighing the pros and cons of each cruise.

    Thank you for your help.

    Mary
    Hope this helps.

The port is 15.8 miles from the airport, which is about 20 - 40 minutes depending on traffic.

Lots! Reggie has a good deal with one hotel. Check out the SF Hotels thread in this section.

Ooo..if it's anything like the one on Holland America, I'll be there 90% of my sea days. It's a huge bubbling hot tub with super charged jets, plus a place to recline on where jets bubble on your entire body. Sooo good.

I really want to thank all of you for the information on the Mercury and this cruise. We booked our cruise a few months back and got some great rates on RCCL. As a result it will cost us a significant amount more to go on the Mercury and do the airfare from San Franciso/Vancouver instead of San Diego/Vancouver. So we have decided to stay with our reservations on RCCL.

I know you will all have a fantastic time.

Hey Reggie, can you tell me what the rate from Vancouver into San Francisco would be? We are still planning on driving up to San Francisco, making stops along the way, and parking the car at a place near the terminal.

Fireworks are opening night only. On the 4th the fair closes at 9PM. It was fun. I just can't wait till the 7th....

    More Questions

What day/time does the train leave from Vancouver? Would it be better to stay one night in Vancouver and then catch the train? I have no idea what time the trains leave from Vancouver, or how often. No clue how far away the train station is from the port either.

There are 2 different trains. 1 from Vancouver to Seattle and another from Seattle to Oakland. The Seattle to Oakland train is about 23 hours.

The Coast Starlight leaves from Seattle at about 10AM and arrives Oakland about 9AM. The train can be booked now. The sleepers fill up quicker in the summer.
The standard bedroom has one lower and one upper berth. The deluxe has a large lower bed and small upper and has it's own bathroom and shower.

The rates I quoted in the first post would be the same from Vancouver to any point between Sacramento and San Jose.

You would be better taking the train to Seattle, spend the night and then catch the train to SF the next day. Train leaves Vancouver once daily for Seattle at about 6PM and is about a 5 minute ride from the cruise port, there are also bus connections from Vancouver that leave during the day.
