I hope you have been told that with a group cruise you can get discounts with the cruise line. What you can do is use this discount as a way to partially pay for the contributions. That way people get a cruise for the same price that they would have paid for it anyway, but they also get a charitable donation.

What a great idea - I think group travel is a innovative way of raising money for charities of all kinds.

There are a number of free resources out there that can really boost participation. I'd take a look at sites like Kickstarter to organize donations and take a peek at what a guy by the name of Rich Tucker (CruiseDeals/CruiseSource on twitter) does for charity with his cruise business development efforts.

Search on the hashtag #LindasCruise and you'll see how he makes it personal, touching and is able to disperse a message much farther via social media.

Drop me a line at tim.willoughby@cruiselinefans.com or send me a PM here and we can link up offline.

Thanks for posting and I wish you the best of luck in your latest endeavor.

Wow I didn't get back to update this thread for a while. Since the first time I posted a lot has changed. We will still be cruising for cancer but the charity I chose is the Uw Carbone Cancer Center. The reason I chose them is more of the money goes directly to cancer research. We have a website up and running for it. Cruise 4 the Cure
