You should be aware of pick pockets at the metro and crowded areas.
A money belt is a good idea. A shoulder bag with a zip pocket where you keep your wallet etc is also a very good idea.
On the metro they usually use a scam where one person drops his mobile phone in front of you and then the other steals from you.
Strangely, I have never been pick pocketed anywhere in the world exept for in Barcelona.
But this happens in any large citiy so you have to be aware.

Ofcourse

In Naples itself it not much to see and do. Its a large dirty city.
Yes, it is the home to the pizza and you can find the original pizzeria where the Margarita was founded.
But Naples is the gateway to Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast. The most beautiful coast in the world. Sip a limoncello at a cafe in the Sorrento
Its easy to get to Pompeii from Naples ofcoruse.
Or just across from where the cruise ships dock in Naples you have the hydrofoil landing for the boats to Capri.
In Capri you must take the fenicular up to the town. Its lovely just to walk around and take in the beauty.
The "roads" are very uneaven so take care when walking.
You can also walk or take a taxi up to another town in Capri called Anacapri. Its a very small and quaint town at the top of the island.
Ofcourse you can take a sightseeing boat to the famous blue grotto also.
If the weather is nice its an unforgetable experience.

Oh! And you can take a ski lift up to Anacapri, too! We did this and it is an amazing site from that vantage point!

If you need links or addresses to private tour companies for Amalfi coast, just ask. Very comfortable cars and excellent guides/drivers. But note the tours are full day tours of around 8 hours.

Tickets for the Blue grotto can be bought as soon as you get off the hydrofoil in Capri.

I don't think I'll have enough $ to go on a guided tour with just me & Mum (Mum's on a widows pension so I'm paying for her as well and to be perfectly honest if I hadn't promised her this trip - after Dad died - I would be postponing this trip until my business picks up)

If we find anyone else to share costs it may be possible and if that happens I'll be in touch.

Whats the "Blue grotto"?

It is a natural cave and when the sunlight passes through the underwater cavity and shines through the seawater it creates a blue reflection that illuminates the cavern. The Blue Grotto has become the emblem of the island of Capri. The cave was discovered during the Roman times and it is a adorned with statues
You can reach the Grotto with motor boat or via bus or taxi from Anacapri. To enter the low opening to the grotto, you must lie in the bottom of the boat as it is rowed in.
