    Nov Med weather

    FROM: http://www.mercurynews.com/ci_717577...nclick_check=1

    Q. We're planning a Mediterranean cruise in November, but I've heard conflicting reports about the weather. Some say it's cold with rough seas, others say pleasant. Who can I believe?

    A. If you're sailing in November, you're at the very end of the Mediterranean cruising season. While you certainly won't run into hot, uncomfortable weather, it's possible you'll see an occasional shower and cooler temperatures. The bonus: There will be fewer tourists and shorter lines at museums and popular attractions.

Thanks for one more confirmation that our 11/15/2008 Med cruise on Summit will be just fine--weather-wise!!!

We have had coolish/rainy weather and nice and warm weather in November, but not unpleasant at all. It could go either way since you are in the "shoulder season". Just be prepared and be sure to follow the weather patterns for a couple of weeks prior to your cruise.

Thanks Char, that is nice to hear! We have all the necessary raingear, jackets, and lot's of layers for all kinds of weather. We certainly hit several climates on the recent TA!!!

    Rosie -

We do have a number of folks who have cruised The Med here. (Not as many as the caribbean, but some)

So - if you have questions or find interesting information about your ports, please don't hesitate to post either here in our Med Ports forum.

Most of our Mediterranean cruises are around November...that's just the time of year when business allows us to go away for a long stretch.

It's always been pleasant but cool in the day and cooler at night. On daytime excursions I usually wear something I can walk a lot in but still look reasonably nice. Like Docker type pants or very nice jeans and a stylish cotton top. And COMFORTABLE SHOES are a must. I always bring a short jacket of some type, usually black.

You can't go wrong with that combination...and it makes sense because most of the excursions end up being something like going from cobblestone streets and rutted steets in ancient ruins to dinner in a palace all on the same outing. You need to be comfy, look presentable but not over-dressed, be able to walk anywhere up and down lots of stairs on uneven ground, (strappy sandals or heels would not be a good idea), and wear layers in case you go inside a place that is over-heated...you want to be able to peel off that jacket and cool off. I found cooling off to be more of an issue than staying warm, because of all the activity and the many over-heated shops and restaurants.

Thanks for that info Julie! We're not real big on "jeans" (mainly for comfort), but REALLY love our zip pants--do you think the lighter weight nylon might be too thin that time of year? We have plenty of jeans to take, but then they weigh more packing too!!!

We both bought a pair of MBT tennies for the Sep't. TA & absolutely loved doing all the walking in them so we are set with shoes! Probably have plenty in the way of layering also. Going into many of these Med places---are "nice" warm-up/jog/athletic-type suits acceptable? (I'm NOT talking regular sweat shirts & pants!)
