Anyone ever been to Martha's Vineyard?

As with all cruises, it doesnt always stop everywhere you want to go. On my Can/NE cruise I had hoped to make a stop at Martha's Vineyard, but unfortunately it wasn't in the cards.

Has anyone been? Was it nice? Any pictures to share? What is there to do?

    MV disappointment

We missed MV when we sailed Enchantment in September, the weather was too rough for tendering...
Maybe sometime in the future on a land vacation...we really wanted to see the lighthouses there...

I love MV and go there a lot since I live in Ma. I just can't imagine that lovely island with a 1,000 or more people dumped off for a few hours. At which town do they dock? I think you need a couple days to get a real feel for the place.

I'd say the Gay Head Cliffs, the lighthouses,Chilmark and the historic homes in Edgartown!

We were there in 2001. Loved the historic homes in Edgartown.

    Lighthouses were great.

The only sad thing for us was we were there near the end of Oct and nearly everything was closed down for the season.

I've been, but it's been a while.. very cute little place and we rode our bikes all around. The color of the houses was interesting.. all different pastels in a row. The lighthouses were great too! Thereis the normal shopping and eats.. But it would be hard to imagine dropping off 1000 ppl there for the day.

I read a book about early edgartown and MV and how everyone who lived there knew Sign language because the concentration of the population was deaf, so everyone learned it. I thought that was the greatest thing. I believe there is only 1 living member left of that community alive on the island. I was hoping to meet them but didn't happen.
