Thread: Could the Mariner be heading to Alaska?

RCL has announce that the Serenade will not be returning to Alaska for the 2010 season.


At some point the newness of the Mariner in LA will wear off. When that happens, could they send it up north?

Is the Mariner suitable for Alaska?

Where would it sail from?

It was build for warm weather cruising. It does not has an enclosed solarium like on the Radiance class. During it's next dry dock could they enclose the solarium?

They Mariner is too tall to sail under the Lyon's Gate Bridge so it can not reach the current cruise terminals in Vancouver. That would mean sailing from Seattle.

My guess is that the Mariner won't be heading north. I would like to see her do a few 10/11 night MR cruises and maybe a few 3/4 nighters just to get people on a short cruise from LA to build interest in the longer MR cruises.
I talked briefly with Adan Goldstein on the Mariner pre inaugural and he said although there are no plans for other than 7 night cruises, nothing is off the table.
