Clelia II Opens Cruise Season in Maine

The Clelia II will arrive in Portland, ME today, thereby opening up the cruise season for 2010 in this region of the United States.

The Clelia II is a smaller ship, operated by the Great Lakes Cruise Company and recently refitted in 2009. The Clelia II is designed to offer all 100 guests on board suite accommodations and ocean cabin views.

The Clelia II will disembark her 100 passengers for the day and then continue onto to Bar Harbor Monday night.

Between now and October, 70 cruise ships will visit Portland, Maine, beginning today with the Clelia and ending October 29, with the first visit to Portland by the 940-passenger Crystal Symphony.

I wish I was there to see her. Portland is a beautiful New England port. The waterfront with all the tiny stores, the park overlooking the bay. just beautiful.
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

And, we have a brand NEW cruise terminal here to make getting on and off the ships, and into Old Port and rest of the city as quickly as possible. We're quite excited to start seeing cruise ship passengers walking around town.

Tim, how large a ship can the new Portland terminal accomodate? Since the 2 ships mentioned are smaller, I suspect that the larger cruise ships won't be stopping there. Or will they?
