Hi folks. Today is a day at sea, so I am hoping to post a few pics. I can’t get the orcas on because I can’t get the video into a pic on this computer, but hopefully at home Danny will have a program to do that. But I have plenty to post, IF the Internet here will cooperate. First with Montevideo. Not many from there, just a couple of the prominent buildings, Danny and I outside the Carnival Splendor and then a group of dancers that put on a very nice show on the dock just before sail away. They were very energetic and I thought they gave an excellent show. They were fun to watch. I was in video mode for the dancing, or I would post a pic of their dancing. Sorry.

First off, here are a couple sunrise pictures from our sea day and then the morning at Puerto Madryn. I can’t seem to catch the sunsets; we always seem to be busy or inside doing something and forget, but the sunrises, I manage to catch for some reason. J I love it

Now, on to Puerto Madryn. Here are a few pictures from our first stop on the Peninsula Valdes excursion. It was at the visitor center at the isthmus and you could see both the gulfs from there. That is where Danny took the pictures of the whale’s skeleton. It was inside the Visitor’s Center. The weather was gorgeous, warm and sunny with a mild breeze. It started off in the 60’s and was up to about 80 by afternoon. Just perfect. We were worried when it was so cold and windy the day before.

All along the way, we saw Guanaco. The next stop on our tour was near Punta Piramides, just to the West of the town to the sea lion colony. That is where we received the unexpected visit from the Orca whales. There was quite a commotion from the guides. LOL They have lived here their entire lives and have never seen the Orcas in that bay, so they were all very excited. Here are the pictures of the sea lions from that stop and the Guanaco from along the way since the last stop.

The next stop was up to see the Elephant Seals and Magellanic Penguins at Caleta Valdez over on the East coast. The roads were all gravel and we had been told were bumpy. They weren’t the greatest, but I live in the rural area of IL and trust me, I’ve been on worse. LOL It was about 2 ½ hours total from ship to this part of the preserve and it was worth it. I would do it again in a heartbeat. The countryside was not all that to look at, flat with bushes and shrubs, but the wildlife and coastal scenery was fantastic, IMHO. Here are the pictures and you can decide what you think. The birds are Darwin’s Rhea.

From there, it was a box lunch in the bus with a long ride back to the ship with a biobreak at the Visitor’s Center and a stop just at the edge of town for a picture of the ship from the top of the hill. I thought that was nice of them. Time to relax, then the Folklore Show in the Spectacular Lounge. Then I came back to the cabin and Danny was hollering to grab my camera and come to the balcony. We had 3 sea lions swimming around right under our balcony. I videotaped them for at least 5 min., but I also have included a couple pictures to show how close they were to us. What a wonderful day. At supper, they brought Danny’s birthday cake. It was a day late and sang Happy Birthday to him a second time. People are going to think he has a birthday ever day. LOL Didn’t realize that cake was so big. We shared with 2 tables, the waiters and the cabin stewards. (The pic of the ship is for you Lars )

Cindy, Thank you for the picture

I am truly enjoying reading your Live From report. South America is very facinating. I am crossing my fingers for calm seas as the ships visits Cape Horn.
I have been there 3 times and had perfect weather.

Happy belated Birthday to Danny

Awesome, awesome pics Cindy

My Signature Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.
