After lunch I went back to the room to decompress, then decided to take the free hotel shuttle to Walgreens, which is close by, and buy some bottles of water for our cruise, along with some sani-wipes to wipe down the room. After getting sick on my last cruise, being so careful everywhere except my stateroom, I am not making that mistake again.
While in the store I got a call from a very old friend, who had disappeared a couple of years before. She has just moved back home to get her life back on track and wanted to call a familiar voice. I was sorry that I was away but promised to get together with her once I was home. It was good to hear from her and we ended up talking for about an hour once I was back in my room.
I returned a couple more phone calls and texts from friends before deciding to catch up on a little sleep. Earl called to let me know that he made it to Dulles and should be boarding his next flight.
Just as I was falling asleep he called to say he was delayed for about an hour. I felt bad that he had such a long day, he took a nap on the floor in Denver in an unused terminal. We've all been there and it's not fun.
I napped off and on for about 2 hours but kept getting texts and calls. When Earl was about to take off he called to let me know he was on his way.
I decided to get up and finally start my Live From thread, but as I am sitting here poor Earl's called to tell me that he is yet again delayed. They are having a medical emergency on the plane, the stewardess had come back asking if anyone was a doctor and then came back later asking if anyone spoke French. Medical personnel have come but it's going to be a while.
Then he finally calls as I've been here to say the man has been taken away, a few passengers have left the plane and others have been let on. It turned out lucky for those guys because this was one of those VERY overbooked flights. I bet most of these folks were looking at staying overnight.
No word on the passenger, I hope he is OK. He's lucky if anything, I would rather be on the jetway than in the air. You'd have to wait to land the plane and have the paramedics show up, it would NOT be fun.
So Earl is now on his way to me, arriving now somewhere around 2am. The poor guy is going to be just beat.
I'm going to get a little dinner now and then meet him at the airport. Tomorrow we will be boarding our ship!!!!
See you all soon.
Let your conversation be gracious and attractive, so that you will have the right response for everyone.

Hi Sonja!!! Great start on your live thread! And wow, how did you get that hotel for 84.00 a night!!!
So sorry poor Earl is having a heck of a time getting to you, but tell him he will have a great time recuperating for a week on a cruise LOL
I will say a prayer for the man who needed medical services.
I'm sooo looking forward to seeing the Mariner through your camera but will understand if we have to wait for pics till you get home, I know how slow the internet is on ships.

Sonja,
I am already enthrolled by your posts. And give Earl an extra kiss and hug from me for enduring such a long day. Of course prayers to the man that became ill.
Enjoy your cruise and the pictures are great. If you get involved relaxing and don't get a chance to post, well that's okay. We can catch up when you get back. The most important thing is that you and Earl enjoy your vacation to the fullest.

What everyone else said regarding Earl and the sick passenger. It will all be worth it when you get on the ship. Will continue to follow your adventure. If I can't be cruising, the next best thing is to hear about friends who are enjoying it. Nice pics and narrative so far, keep it up girl!

Well, I left Orlando just after noon yesterday while you were arriving, Sonja. What was all that tra la la getting out of Denver? Leaving your husband behind? Gee, that stinks. Anyway, have a great cruise. I'm on the Splendor in 27 days, then another week vacation.(psst, Ken loves vacations, and he gets them too)
