    Hi Rex,

I will be going to Labadee on my April 23rd cruise. It is part of the island of Haiti and from what I heard on the other board (CC), it is a nice place for beach activity.

I went to Labadee once. I personally wasn't thrilled about it. One thing I didn't like was the sand. It seemed hard or something. It wasn't that fine, soft sand that you normally get in the Caribbean. There were other things I didn't really like, but it was a while ago so I don't really remember.

My own personal view...with all the horrible things happening in Haiti at the moment, I would not want to visit there. There are a lot of human rights issues there right at the moment which make me feel very uncomfortable.

We loved Labadee....infact one of our favourite ports.

When you get off the ship.....keep walking on abit past the first beach.....then you go off to the left and you get to Hideaway Beach...lovely and clean...great place for relaxing...and the ship isnt far away...great for pics. There are loungers...floaty things to rent....

This is where RCCI serves lunch by the way.

Just be extra careful in the sun...very deceptive...wear lots of sunscreen here.
We are looking forward to our second visit to Labadee in Nov.

Labadee was just like Liz said it was. I did enjoy my day there alot, except when we went across to the other side of the beach where the waves were and I decided to wade in the water to cool off.
OMG the sea urchins attacked me! It was unreal! Like nothing that I ever experienced in my entire life.
Just make sure to read the signs and if thay say not its not safe to swim in that particular area~pay attention.

I can verify what Kathy said it was great there what we experienced.

They have a guy there that won't let you climb the rocks too far off the beaten path.

They have hammocks to hang out in. The water is nice and clear. There were shops there that we missed since Kathy had the problem with the Sea Urchins. She went into anaphaltic (sp????) shock and I had to get them to transport her back to the dock for the ship. So please do read the signs and follow what they say. If it says don't go out in the water here then don't do it. If they say don't climb here you better not. Well there wasn't a sign there just wasn't a trail. It was great though the view from up there.

I enjoyed Labadee as well. If you head towards where the BBQ buffet is , there is a lovely shaded area with tables, and a stones throw away, a place to swim or lie in the sun, or half sun/shade which works well for me. And the Carribean band plays near there as well.

We didn't really enjoy the market much though. The people selling items are pretty pushy. Although the folks we were with had a ball buying Caribe-crafts. I know that for a local to get to be able to sell at Labadee is a very big deal. the economy is so depressed, that jobs are few and far between.

We enjoyed the beach, the guys loved the wave runner, we liked the food, and I LOVED my Labadoozie!!
