Arrow Do NOT Drink the Water! (in Labadee)

There are signs all over warning cruisers: Do Not Drink the Tap Water.

Honestly, if I can't drink the water, I don't want to wash my hands in it so I always take wet wipes/hand cleaner along with us. Just thinking that some of you may wish to do the same.

Not to worry about drinks and the ice served there -- it comes from the ship.

Labadee is lovely and we totally enjoy having a port stop there.

The cruise I'm going on next year goes to Labadee. And yes,I'm taking every precaution.I bought a reusable water bottle that folds up(Vapur-google it-they're inexpensive, too!) that I'm going to take with me. and fill up on the ship before I go to the ports.

Thanks for reminding us, LuLu! I had forgotten about that. Not sure when we will be back on Labadee but I will remember to take water from the ship next time.

We will be there in Jan and will bring water from the ship (since I refuse to pay for bottled). Do you know if they have a free water station like in the cafe's on ship?

Always just went to buffet and got a tea or whatever they had with the lunch.

When we've been there, no beverage station to serve yourself at the island.
Glasses of tea or fruit punch from a server was all. I know, because I did ask for water.

I got a glass of ice and let it melt. We were actually drinking beer anyway ... just wanted a little water with the meal.

Genius! I would have never thought to let the ice melt...Phase Change

That does sound familiar, we have only been twice and the second time we got a class of something at the old food area. Now that I think of it they were on a tray and you grabbed what you wanted??? After the zipline it started to rain so we went back to the ship. The time before we had no water either... again one of the provided juices for lunch and then beer on the beach.

Very excited to see the changes.

I have to laugh. I saw this thread in the New Posts area, and didn't realize this was about Labadee only. I was wondering why I had survived drinking our ship's tap water, and why I had not seen any signs! Not drinking water in Haiti for the present makes sense though.

We always drink the water from the tap while onboard a ship. They make their own, so it's fresher and doesn't taste bad at all.

We take two 1-liter water bottles in our backpack and just fill them from the faucet in our room every morning before heading out to port. If it's going to be hot, we also have a small collapsible cooler we'll put them in to keep them cool. Fits great in our backpack.

Lulu, I took the liberty of changing the title of your post. I hope you don't mind but you really confused everyone with this one (an act after my own heart..... )

Of course you meant that ship water was safe.

Actually, we don't drink tap water in most ports. All tap water has microorganisms in it and we are not acclimatized to most places. BTW, ice cubes are not any better than tap water, most microorganisms can survive freezing.
