Where is it on map...

Trying to figure this out on the map - Where is Ladadee exactly on a map, near what major city. RC's website is sorta useless to me -

"On the north coast of Hispaniola, surrounded by beautiful mountain slopes and exotic foliage, sits Labadee®, Royal Caribbean's private paradise."

Not too helpful, Hispaniola does not show on google maps.

Anyone know exactly? Thanks.

Hispanola is part of the Greater Antilles, and the land mass of Hispanola actually consists of two countries: Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
Labadee is a peninsula jutting off Haiti. Google Haiti.

RCCLhardly ever mentions the name Haiti, probably owing to the fact that Haiti can be such a dangerous place. VERY poverty stricken. Very third world. Frequent unrest...

Labadee, however, is all fenced off from Haiti proper. You can't get in or out unless RCCL knows it. A few well-screened locals work there. Cruise passengers canNOT exit from Labadee into the rest of Haiti.

Yes, been to Labadee once before... I have to disagree and say that Haiti IS A dangerous place, even for natives. I googled Haiti and just looked for beach masses, just wanting to know I was exactly there - I like to look down on where I am going Just get hyped up for the up coming trip.... I am sure you know how that is

Thanks for you quick reply.

I don 't think we disagree at all. I was just trying to be diplomatic... something I've not exactly mastered!

It's fun to know where you are going . . are . . . have been . . . and be able to point to it on a map.

Here is a site you can go to for locating the cruise ships. It uses google earth. When you know a ship will be in Labadee check it out. You can zoom in and see a lot of detail!

Click on the cruise line then the ship and then in the next window, right above the ship picture is a link to the current position.

You can open Google Earth and see it.
If you zoom in on Haiti, Labadee is marked.

That means I will have to install it again. Never reinstalled it after my last format. Acquired a free legit copy of Windows XP so I wanted to put it on my laptop. Small benefit of being a computer science student

HA HA! Yeah I am not exactly "politically correct" either. I think the way you described Haiti was perfect - I just like to put my two cents in when it comes to travel security.

Problem is people do not understand the risks because they have that "won't happen to me" attitude, not good.

Very sad in the middle of all that beauty is such horrible people, ruins the island.
