There is not a per say straw market but there are a few small place to buy a few things. I love it there because no one is pushing their wares on you. Remember it is a beach mantained by RCCL, they keep that mess out. They do sale a few things but like I said it is small and operated by RCCL as it is on Coco Cay.

I've been to both several times and number-wise, there are more vendors in Labadee but they are all located in a smaller area. Whereas in CoCo Cay, there are less vendors but they are spread out a little - each with their own little hut, which makes it appear there are more vendors than at Labadee.
The one in Labadee is in a building and each vendor has their own little space (there are a few set up outside). They basically all sell the same things, but there's some interesting local stuff there. Since it's actually a private beach that is part of Haiti and not a private island, there are more vendors who can come out there, so RCCL allows more. Whereas on CoCo Cay, it's an island and the vendors come from a pretty good distance by boat to get there since they don't live on the island.
I'm sure that the vendors pay RCCL some rent to be in either place and I'm sure RCCL controls the number of vendors, who is allowed to be a vendor, and what is sold, but I wouldn't go so far as to say the vending is operated by RCCL.

I'm the last person to ask about this! I never pay much attention to that stuff - I'm one of those who looks but doesn't really see when it comes to shopping down there because we've been there so many times that I'm no longer interested. But from what I have seen, it's all basically the same no matter where you are in the Caribbean, with some minor differences. My opinion is that if you've seen one vendor, you've seen them all!
With that said, I did notice more workworking craftsmen in Labadee than in CoCo Cay. Other than that, I'm not much help. Sorry.

Wow Pete, I have learned something too. I have not seen anything from locals at Coco Cay. I did not really look at Labedee and only saw the things RCCL offered.

When you get off the tenders, everything is to the left except the flea market, which is to the right. If you're not looking for you, you can miss it.

I've heard the vendors (flea market area) in Labadee were VERY aggressive. .... so guess I've heard wrong?????

Aggressive? Yes, to a degree, but not as much as other places I've been. So I would say that they are a little aggressive, but I do not find them overly aggressive. Guess it's a matter of opinion compared to what you're use to and have witnessed in other places.

Lulu, you may have heard that from me When we were there we went kyaking around the bay. They took us to a small beach with venders on it. They were very aggressive. At first we thought they were being friendly, helping us dock the kyaks but if they saw you leaving without buying anything they got a little excited. One guy chased us to our kyak
