Talking Key West: Hog's Breath & Irish Kevins

    Hog's Breath and Irish Kevin's

Both of these bars had LIVE music during the DAY and gave us the special "Key West feeling" that we are use to having on land trips when bar hopping after sunset!

Hog's Breath is a somewhat traditional Key West bar which has an attached covered patio with a rather large bar and a smaller raw bar as well as live entertainment -- Jimmy Buffett sort of music.

We sat at the raw bar (great oysters & crab claws) and had a few drinks (ok, many drinks), chatted with the friendly staff & other happy bar flies, and listened to music. We could easily have stayed there all day; but, there were so many bars and so little time ....

Irish Kevin's was a total HOOT! It's more of a rowdy, party, sing-along bar. BEWARE: Those "Green Alligators" will get you in a hurry! When sight-seeing trolleys would stop in front (guess were were a sight ) the entertainer would shout, "You look bored on that trolley! We're having FUN in here!!" He was right!

Before going to the ship we stopped back by our favorite, Hog's Breath, for one last drink. Love that place!

Then, we poured ourselves on the ship and sailed off into that famous Key West SUNSET!

    Great day! Lots of FUN!

Thanks for the tip. Lulu. We've been to Hogs Breath many times and love it. Just don't order the conch fritters! Have you had your photo taken in the prop?

We'll have to try out Irish Kevin's the next time we are there.

Here is a link to the Hogs Breath webcam.

We have called home and waved to our friends from there.
There is a 30 second delay on the video feed.

All the bars in Key West have their own unique character. If you have never been, several have Websites and a few have online webcams (Hogs Breath, as noted above and Sloppy Joe's).

Go to www.keywest.com and click on the KeyWest bar tab on the left.

Have fun exploring for your next visit.

COnch Republic was a great covered but open air bar with a nice restaurant attached. We sat at the bar and had excellent conch fritters. Schooner Wharf Bar across the way is also a nice hangout with a local feel.

We too love Irish Kevins - be prepared for some rowdiness.
