Another popular tourist destination in Hawaii is the Fern Grotto.... beautiful lush location, great acoustics. You'll know what I mean if you ever have the chance to go.

Went to the Fern Grotto my first trip to Hawaii. I remember the hula dancing lesson on the boat ride there. Also remember it's pretty slippery in the Grotto so make sure you're wearing the right type of shoes.

Last time we were in Kauai we were told by a local that the grotto hasn't really been the same since Iniki. We had done it in the '70's. The comment was it had become too commercial and people wanted money for everything. The think I love about Kauai is that it's small enough that you can get anywhere pretty fast, and have time to enjoy the area. The drive to Ke'e Beach is interesting with a stop in Hanalei for lunch. (great burgers at Bubba's) I think Kauai may be my favourite island, although the Big Island might have something to say about that.

Joe - I must say that on my cruise Kauai was my favorite island followed closely by the Big Island as well....

Thanks for the beautiful pictures of the Canyon. We are going to do a backroads adventure that will take us to the canyon and a few other places on the way. I can't wait!
