Which

Montego Bay or Ocho Rios???

This is a question to the preference of each port and will determine which cruise ship we take.

Rhapsody goes to Ocho Rios...
Conquest goes to Montego Bay...

They both hit Grand Caymans and Cozumel so as you can see it's the port and not the ship...

Just asking personal experiences and preferences.

Thanks

I've been to Jamaica 5 times...go to Ocho Rios....nicer area....Mo Bay doesn't have as much to see/do and you'll get to see more of the exotic lands in Ocho Rios...

Go to Ocho Rios. Get Peat Taylor's son O'Neal (through Peat Taylor Tours) as your private guide.

he will take you wherever you want... knows how to get around the crowds - is knowledgeable and entertaining, and will customize the day for you. he'll show you an amazing Ocho Rios from a local's real point of view, answer all your questions honestly and thoroughly, and stop the vehicle on request for pics whenever you like.

He even got us a private snorkel boat with an in water guide... for just the three uf us!

He is marvelous!

Have been to Ocho Rios, used A-Z Jamaica planners. Same experience as with Peat Tayler.(Belinda at AZ and Peat are friends, have similiar businesses and refer to each other when booked) I think both of them also run businesses out of Montego, but the excursion costs appear a little higher in Montego Bay. We are going there for the first time this fall. Then I can let you know about our thoughts.
We loved our experience in Ocho Rios.

Mo Bay was the first port-of-call on our first ever cruise. We did not like any of the excursions offered by Carnival (most seemed to emphasize getting drunk and disorderly or some extreme sport activity) so we went to the Tourist Bureau (or whatever it was called) booth in the terminal and asked about a private taxi tour. We took the next one in the queue and got Tony. For $50 for the four of us we got two hours of Tony and we saw a lot of the Mo Bay area. It was a little more cramped than a tour bus or a van, but, although Tony decided where we would go, we decided how long we would stay there. Along with the usual tourist spots, Tony even took us to the Wyndom Rose Hill Resort, where he worked when not driving his taxi. I have no way of knowing what we missed that we should have or could have seen, but we were certainly satisfied that we got good value for the money. He dropped us at the "shopping center" from which we got the free shuttle back to the ship.

My friend, Marty, likes to collect some money from every country he visits, so he asked the clerk in the store where we bought our drinks if he could buy a Jamaican Dollar. She said it was not worth the hassle and gave him one. Pretty good indication of the exchange rate.

I'll have to agree with Canary and Bunti on using Peat and O'Neil Taylor. Our first time in Ocho Rios, we used them as well.

GREAT tour guides, we went from the beaches to the mountaintop. Really beautiful island when you see it thru the eyes of O'Neil!

I have got to agree here...our last/most recent trip we used Peat and his son...awesome...There were only 15 or so people on our bus...first group to the falls in the morning...no crowds yet...as a matter of fact the other buses didn't even start showing up until we were getting back on ours. The little straw market that was there was barely open too, lol...we then had a tour and he was just fabulous...we requested to be dropped off at a shopping area...my kids loved it...the stores were wonderful and they had a huge bronze type Marley statue...really cool...

Oh...this was Ocho Rios....

I recommend Peat Taylor to everyone....
