Has anyone taken the following excursions from Ocho Rios: River Rafting Martha Brae or River Tubing Safari? My daughter and SIL are thinking of taking one of these on their Princess cruise next month, and I told her I'd go ask the experts!!. Any information or advice? Thanks.
I can't help you with those, but I been to Dunn's Falls twice.. The first time we took the ships tour.. What a rip-off... The second time we got a cab at the gate of the pier and were there in 5 minutes. It's only a mile from the pier.. We got to spend more time there and save about $50. over the ships tour....
I can highly recommend the Dolphin Cove swim. It was the highlight of our visit there. A little pricey, but believe me it is worth every penny and then some!! Promise.
Loved the Dunns River Falls tour. We took the ship one and had plenty of time to spend there. After the falls we went to a beach for a great afternoon swimming.

I've done Dunn's River's Falls 3 times....it's quite the experience! I haven't done the rafting, but I've heard it's a lot of fun as well from those who have travelled the rivers.

Jodi, sorry to interrupt, but I need your opinion over on "the list" when you get a chance! Love your Avatar!

I've done the Rafting the Martha Brae excursion with another couple. We all enjoyed it very much. It isn't physically challenging at all, which is why we picked it. It's a long bus ride, about an hour and a half, with one stop along the way for a snack and toilet break. We had a guide with us on the bus who gave us lots of good info along the way. She was very nice. We got to the river, they gave us all a free rum punch or non-alcoholic. Then, two by two you climbed onto these rafts that are homemade by your raft guide. You gently glide down the river through lush forest. The guide pointed out different plants. We saw a blue heron along the way and a few other birds.
There are people hawking their wares along the side of the river from time to time, but we just said no thanks and the guide kept going. The guides carve calabash shells in beautiful patterns, which they want to sell to you. We bought one of these beautiful carvings.
At the end of the trip, there are many trying to sell stuff, but we just got back on the bus, no problem mon! All in all it was a really nice relaxing excursion we all enjoyed. Ask away if you have any questions.

Here's a pic from our excursion.
Now I see the OP originally posted in Sept. The cruise is probably over. LOL oh well

tell me about dunns' river falls...is it a hard climb? Wear water shoes? What do you do with the other 'stuff' you'd be carrying...like a tote with water, suntan lotion, other shoes, etc?
:thumbsdow Our real problem with "Martha Brea Rafting" was the bus time vs the actual time on the rafts just did NOT make it worthwhile. :thumbsdow (Like alphakitty who did a great description of the excursion ... we also enjoyed the time on the raft -- just was not worth the travel time for us.)
 For "Dunn's River Falls" TRY to find an excursion offered by the ship that takes you there by WATER on a tour boat which may/may not include another very fun beach stop afterwards. You will dock at the falls ... and walk UP and down ... rather than DOWN and back up. Also, you can just walk over and see the falls. Maybe, just use the stairs (along the side) and go back to the boat anytime you wish.
Just our opinion. Hope it helps a bit ....
