Question One Day In Ocho Rios...What "SHOULD" we see???

Hi Cruise Fans!
We will be in Ocho Rios for one day only: 7:30-3:30. Can anyone suggest what we should see in that amount of time???
Thanks in Advance!

Don't give up all hope of doing what you really want to do! Maybe the ship will offer one of these as an excursion. That way timing would be of no concern to you!

Peat Taylor is might be able to help you out with a tour of the things you are interested in. Take a look at his tour packages on his website.Tour Operator For Cruise Ship Passengers in Ocho Rios If you want combine the packages I think you can just request it. That should not be a problem he is very accommodating and he is an excellent guide/driver. I highly recommend him to anyone!

We went years ago, but we booked a ship's tour of Dunn's River Falls. The advantage was that we got picked up at the dock and got a boat ride to and from that place.

In the morning, we got a cab and after talking to the driver, bf (now hubby) decided to negotiate a tour of Ochos Rios. It was pretty interesting to have a native's viewpoint. But I would doubly make sure you get an official cab (your ship's newsletter will undoubtedly advise you on this) and make sure you feel comfortable with the driver. He showed us where the natives live, took us to good overlooks to take photos, showed us native flora (this doesn't include when he later offered us some ganja, which we turned down) and took us to the marketplace and came back at the appointed time to pick us up.

What I really wanted to do was to visit Goldeneye, which is about 11 miles from there, and is where Ian Fleming wrote most of his James Bond books. There were tours at that time, and I think that would have been so cool.

Coward Noel's Jamaica house is also supposed to be in this area.

When we were there a few years back, we climbed Dunn's River Falls. It really was exciting. One of those things you have to do at least once. For a few extra bucks, they'll even video tape your climb.
We did this & our friends went horseback riding. They loved it.
Jamaica is just not one of those places I want to do a lot of sightseeing.
Good Luck & have a ball whatever you decide to do !!!
