Question Breezes Resort?

There's a shore excursion offered to Breezes on our port stop in Ocho Rios. Does anyone know anything about Breezes?

Lulu....I haven't stayed at Breezes itself, but I have stayed at several different all-inclusives at OR and in Jamaica in general.

Breezes is an all-inclusive (AI) resort. It's family-oriented (unlike couples-only resorts) with it's own beach. Everything on the resort (food, activities, alcohol) is included. It's nice; however (and this is just my own opinion), I can't imagine why anyone would want to get off a cruise ship just to go to a resort, rather than taking in the sites of OR.

OR has so much to offer...great snorkeling, scuba diving, Dunn's Rivers Falls, Ziplining, swimming with the dolphins, tours of the mountains and jungles and horseback riding...just to name a few things.

Give yourself the chance to explore the island....it's beautiful....we love AI's.....stay at them all the time...but if I personally were on a cruise, I wouldn't spend my time on an AI resort...

Just my 2¢....

Thanks so much, Jodi, for the info on Breezes. It sounds like something we would enjoy doing very much.

Over the years we've been to Jamaica sooooooooooo many times. We've already done almost all of the normal things. Jamaica is beautiful island ... but ... sadly, I never feel safe there....

Lulu...that's sad...we've been there many times as well.....always to stay on the island, not just as a cruise port and we've never felt unsafe. Glad my feedback could help you!

One thing is for sure...once you get a taste of an AI at Jamaica, you're spoiled for life!

Is BREEZES now what once was the "JAMAICA-JAMAICA" Resort?

We were in OR in December and went to Beaches, which is a sister resort to Sandals - and it allows kids. it was GREAT. Now I will say that we were nearly hijacked in our cab on the way to the resort by an independent cab driver. He got us about half way there and tried to hike the fare up 70%. (we worked out and arrangement with the help of a security guard who saw thus take place next to where he pulled over)

Be careful. It's NOT the safest port of call!

You don't need to do a shore excursion - you can do this yourself and save money. There are several all-inclusive resorts, a few that are adults only, in Ocho Rios and that's where we like to go everytime we're there. You can contact the resorts directly and find out the cost for the day rate and then just grab a cab. But as Beth mentioned, you need to be careful with the cabbies.

We were careful too, negotiated a price before getting in the cab. If the guy is older and goes by "spicy" don't ride with him.
