Are you visiting Jamaica before June 2007?
This is for land vacations, but I thought it was interesting:
March 27, 2007: The Jamaica Tourist Board would like to take this opportunity to remind you that the new passport requirement mandated by the United States Department of Homeland Security is now in effect. All U.S. citizens traveling by air to and from the Caribbean are required to have a valid passport to re-enter the United States. Foreign nationals entering or transiting to Jamaica through the United States must present a passport. For more information on this new law, please visit the U.S. State Department's website at: www.travel.state.gov/.
In addition, please be reminded that as of February 15th through May 15th, 2007, special Caricom visa regulations will be in effect. Jamaica and other Caricom countries are currently hosting the International Cricket World Cup 2007. As a result, persons holding passports from all countries, except those listed below and nationals of Caricom Member States (except Haiti), require a Caricom Special Visa to enter Jamaica during that time. The cost of the visa is US$100.00. The fee is non-refundable.
Nationals from the following countries and their dependent territories DO NOT REQUIRE A VISA to visit Jamaica:
Canada
Germany
Ireland
Italy
Spain
United Kingdom
France
Japan
All Caricom Nationals except Haiti
South Africa
The Netherlands
United States
For further details, please visit the website for the CARICOM Implementation Agency for Crime and Security (IMPACS) at www.caricom.org. or www.caricomimpacs.org.
