someone who went last week on the same cruise that we are going, mentioned a free shuttle service to the centre of rome. i doubt if this is true, i could not find anything on the net about this shuttle. maybe it is free for those who book the excursions with the ship? we will be getting the train, then walk around or just get a hop on hop off, depends.

    thanks again
I doubt very much the cruise lines offer a free shuttle to Rome since they charge 84 (US dollars on Royal Caribbean) for a "Rome on your own" tour, which in effect is a bus transfer only.

been reading your trip report Lars (thanks Char for the link). you should write books i think! and very good photos too.

was just reading about portofino italy. we are also stopping at genoa and are still not sure wether to book the excursion to portofino. i've seen pics on the net, and now i've seen yours too, and we do want to go there. but we had set our hearts on going to the acquarium in genoa and we cant do the both of them. i've checked about the ferries from genoa to portofino and on the day that we go - a monday - there are no ferries (so we cant do it without the excursion and take less time in portofino then go to the acquarium).

now we are thinking of doing the portofino excursion, miss the acquarium in genoa, then go to the Oceanografic on our stop in valencia. seeing that you are from spain, have you been there? do you think it's like the one in genoa?

hope i'm not being too nosey.......

Thank you very much for the comment regarding my trip report..Maybe when I am 60 years or something I can write my trip memoirs.

I havent been to either of the Oceanografics. Shame because I live 1.5 hour from Valencia.
But what I have seen from pictures and what others tell me, then its a fantastic experience.
But if I should give you an advice then I think I would do the tour to Portofino and the Oceanografic in Valencia.

I can however give you the link to the Oceanografic in Valencia. Its in Spanish so just change the language.

Lars you HAVE been of help, i can assure you.

so OK, we'll be visiting Portofino while in genoa, then we're going to that beautiful art & science building in valencia. shame we'll only stop there from 13.00 till 22.00, so just time to visit the oceanografic. and that will be our last stop of the cruise.....then we sail back home

anyway......i dont have any more questions for now

thank you all for your help.......take care
