Cool To Rome from Port

We are pulling in to Civitavecchia On Aug 8, 2009. Last stop on the cruise. Big Ship.
QUESTION: Since everybody is getting off the ship and heading either to Rome or Fiumicino, will it be hard to find a spot on the train to Rome. We're talking Ruby Princess with a gazillion passengers most of them going to that cute little train station to get out of town.

Are there any tips or secrets to doing this? Especially with the partially handicapped mate.

When we got of the Legend of the Seas there was 4 other ships in port that day.
The train ride was horrible!!!
We more or less ran to the train station, stood over 40 minutes in line for tickets and had to carry our luggage down a flight of stairs and up another flight of stairs to get to the train track. The train itself was overbooked and we had no where to put our luggage. You can imagine the fun when they came with the snack trollies
I would check how many ships are in port that day and try to get off the ship as early as possible.
Next time we disembark a ship at the port of Rome I will pay for a taxi to take us to Rome. I belive its worth the money to avoid the hassle.
